wow, we've been here for a full week together! i don't want to think about what percentage of this is already over.

i woke up early (for a saturday) and headed down to the Flohmarkt. it was pretty much like the other flea market places that i've been to, which are never what i expect them to look like. i haggled (slowly and basically) a little auf Deutsch but everything seemed sehr teuer! of course, i also expect flea markets to be a lot cheaper than they actually are.

Ich habe einen leder Rucksack, einen Hut, einen T-Shirt (nur €0,50! ich weiß warum...), und eine schön Necktarine eingekauft. (my friend erik from my VCU german class just taught me the basics of conversational past-tense, so now i guess i have less of an excuse not to use it.)
I saw some old and pretty old photo/post-cards that i wish i had bought, but they were like €2,00 a piece and the dude wasn't going any lower, so maybe not? o well! ich möchte bei Wiener Secondhand-Laden einkaufen.

MEINEN HUT! i got the Verkaufer down from €20 to €13. i am happy with it. it's something i've vaguely wanted, and it's also a Unique Thing not made in China that I bought at the mall somewhere!

then we sweated our way home (sehr heiß heute, ach) and went out again 40 minutes later for the Prater visit. the Riesenrad ride actually didn't impress me that much. The terrifying swing ride that was at least as tall as the Riesenrad gave a better view of the city, in my opinion. But it's definitely one of those things that man müss in Wien machen, ich glaube. sorry for the english-only speakers reading this with the random phrases in german all over. i like to think it's not that hard to work out in context, but idk. i wonder if anyone actually is reading through all the text in these entries?

after the ride, i went to the river with some friends and swam across the Donau from Donauinsel and back. it wasn't so bad, especially coming back! i did not enjoy suddenly being surrounded with poopy scum on the opposite side though.

the backpack i bought today, delicious juice (juice here tastes a lot better), cute shoes, sketchbook.

i'm forcing myself to relax. everyone else in the group is doing the same, i believe, even though it's SaTuRdAy NiTe in vienna. this is good. tomorrow we are getting up early again and going to Melk and a boat tour somewhere. i don't know, i'm really tired.
